Music Ministry

Chancel Choir: The Chancel Choir is FMC’s largest and most active ensemble. It provides special

anthems and service music as well as leads the congregational music at the 11 o’clock worship

service. The Chancel choir also provides music for special services and funerals, and occasionally

presents concerts of classical repertoire. Recent performances include John Stainer’s The

Crucifixion and John Rutter’s Requiem. During the 1990s and early 2000s, the Chancel choir

enjoyed the privilege of performing in a variety of venues, including several cathedrals in the UK

and Germany, the White House, and the Biltmore House. The Chancel Choir is led by Dan

Holland and rehearses in the choir room on Wednesday evenings at 7:00. It is open to singers 6th

grade and up. Music reading proficiency is preferred.

Children’s Choir: The Children’s Choirs meet as part of “Wednesday Methodist Bunch”. The

children have fun learning music to share in Sunday worship, music-reading skills, and special

programs. The K-5 th grade choir meets on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:15 and the preschool choir

meets on Wednesdays from 5:15-5:30. Both choirs are led by Mary Jo Carr and meet in the choir
